Accountcreator rights

May I please have accountcreator rights? Thanks! User:Jeffw 20:03, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's currently limited to ops and people who can make svn accounts. Also, at some point we'll just support self-registration. User:Ryan Lane 20:16, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bots project

Hi Ryan,

Can you kindly add me to the bots project too? I'd like to run Pywikipedia-based bots off the Labs instances, primarily on Fa WP. I'd also like to create a mini-documentation in Persian for how to do this, and share it with other Fa WP bot owners.

Thanks, huji (talk) 16:46, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I tend to not add people into projects, and instead let the project admins do so. They'll help you get acquainted with the project while doing so. You should talk to Damianz and/or petan in the #wikimedia-labs IRC channel on Freenode.--laner (talk) 03:37, 2 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Makes perfect sense. Honestly, there was no way for to me figure out who the project admin is, from Nova Resource:Bots. I added an {{{Admins}}} parameter to the relevant templates, and updated Nova Resource:Bots to list at least one of the admins, so that other people will know how to talk to. huji (talk) 11:04, 2 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. I need to make a change to labsconsole so that admins are also tracked, like members are.--laner (talk) 18:21, 2 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Local adminship

Hi. What's the process for local adminship here? I searched the wiki for "adminship", but didn't see anything. --mzmcbride (talk) 18:12, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

We have a contentadmin group that can be used for most actions, except for editing the interface. We're very strictly limiting the interface editing permissions, as they can be used to hijack other user's accounts.--Ryan Lane (talk) 21:37, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Relatedly, thoughts on transwiki importing between here (wikitech.wikimedia.org) and mediawiki.org? Does this just need a bug? --mzmcbride (talk) 18:14, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

We should have a request queue for transwiki imports. We have it enabled, but like the ability to edit the interface we limit its membership. It can be used to import interface pages, which increases our risk.--Ryan Lane (talk) 21:37, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

add me to bastion project?

Hi Ryan, I'm trying to get access to bastion.wmflabs.org. My shell access request was granted, and I believe my SSH keys are in order, but I haven't been added to the bastion user group. IRC user scfc_de checked things out and said that because I have an "old" account some special magic is necessary to give me access. Apparently you're the magic man :) Little help? Cheers, jmorgan (talk) 23:02, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Done--Ryan Lane (talk) 21:56, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Deleting abandoned projects in Labs

Hi, Your projects namely, Metavidwiki, Openstack-wiki,Pediapress, Puppet-cleanup and Publicdata have been identified as having "no running instances." We would like to know whether the projects are still active and functional. Please reply to this post if they are still functioning. This will help the ongoing process to identify abandoned projects and delete them from Labs. --Sandaru (talk) 17:45, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
