help pls :)

Hi! Sorry to bother you. How do you run a script pywikipediabot? What you write in PuTTY?

jsub -continuous -N jobname python $HOME/pywikipedia/script_name.py
Takes no action. What am I doing wrong? :) What you write?

Thanks in advance.--Iluvatar (talk) 12:23, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

  1. Automatically, I launch exactly what is written on my user page (/usr/local/bin/jsub -mem 1G -once -N WP "$HOME/WP.sh"), and it works (I can see the job with qstat and the bot on the site).
  2. Manually, I launch qsub WP "$HOME/WP.sh" to allow the script after my disconnection, or simply ./WP.sh to allow it only during my session.
Naturally the .sh is launchable (I had entered chmod 755 WP.sh).

Hmm. I'm trying to run a standard welcome-script.
qsub "$HOME/welcome.sh"
welcome.sh:
cd pywikipedia
python welcome.py
It creates the file welcome.sh.o7785:
WARNING: Skipped '/data/project/iluvatarbot/pywikipedia/user-config.py': owned by someone else.
and file welcome.sh.e7785:
...On toolserver everything worked. Wonder.--Iluvatar (talk) 13:18, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
The copy between the two servers might have forgotten some files or changed some permissions. Have you launched a chmod -R 755 from your parent directory? JackPotte (talk) 14:32, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
local-iluvatarbot@tools-login:~$ chmod -R 755 $HOME/
chmod: changing permissions of `/data/project/iluvatarbot/pywikipedia/statistics_in_wikitable.py': Operation not permitted
chmod: changing permissions of `/data/project/iluvatarbot/pywikipedia/subster.py': Operation not permitted
and etc.
I changed the permissions manually (via WinSCP) to rwxrwxrwx for all files. No result :(.--Iluvatar (talk) 15:44, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
But it seems good for me:

X Tools

Hi. I currently host X's tools on Toolserver and we're getting ready to migrate them over to Labs. I noticed that you had created a project called "xtools" and we've created a project called "xstools." We should work together on this and do it as a single project.--Tparis (talk) 14:39, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I perused the contents of the project. Most of it seems to be outdated duplicates of what my bot does and What TParis hosts on toolserver. I agree we should get together on IRC. I'm not sure about you two, but since I'm familiar for the most part about how the replications servers work, I don't mind handling the database stuff of the code. @you, User:Tparis, and User:Darkdadaah: I created the channel #xlabs connect on irc. That can be our discussion portal and for users to report bugs to.Cyberpower678 (talk) 21:48, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Great, I'll be there at 21 pm UTC and this week-end. JackPotte (talk) 06:40, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
You should stay signed on in that channel. I sent you two memos.Cyberpower678 (talk) 03:57, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Deleting abandoned projects in Labs

Hi, Your project Wikitionary-tools has been identified as having "no running instances." We would like to know whether the project is still active and functional. Please reply to this post if they are still functioning. This will help the ongoing process to identify abandoned projects and delete them from Labs.--Sandaru (talk) 19:02, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's a shared test platform so it's not always used but should be needed again. JackPotte (talk) 19:09, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
