It turns out that an eerie type of chaos can lurk just behind a facade of order - and yet, deep inside the chaos lurks an even eerier type of order. -- Douglas Hofstadter

About me

I joined the Wikimedia Foundation's Operations team in April 2013, coming from a long background of Operations and Systems Engineering roles in the private sector at various corporations in the Technology, Financial, and Telecommunications industries over the past 20 years. In addition to my professional work, I'm also an Open Source software contributor. I'm the primary author of the Open Source authoritative DNS server gdnsd (which the Foundation now also uses), and have in the past been especially active in the Perl community and have made many patchwork contributions here and there around the Open Source world over the years.

My work

Here at the Foundation, I'm currently primarily focused on traffic engineering at the outer layers of our infrastructure where we interface with the broader Internet. This entails things like our geographic DNS routing, remote PoPs, TLS termination, content caching, and the routing of requests into the deeper parts of our software stack.

Disclaimer: Although I work for the Wikimedia Foundation, contributions under this account do not necessarily represent the actions or views of the Foundation unless expressly stated otherwise. For example, edits to articles or uploads of other media are done in my individual, personal capacity unless otherwise stated.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself. -- J. S. Bach

About me

Hello! I'm passionate about the free software and free culture movements. I've been a member of the Debian project for over a decade and since January 2016 I am part of the Wikimedia Foundation Technical Operations team.

The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." — Isaac Asimov

About me

I work at the Wikimedia Foundation as a Site Reliability Engineer on the Traffic team. I also volunteer with the Tor Project, where I used to work as a developer and community advocate.

I am passionate about cryptography, security, and privacy, and have worked on designing and implementing privacy-enhancing technologies, hoping to empower people with the tools they need for the betterment of the world.

Now for some fun stuff: my favourite dish/food is dal makhani served with paratha and chilled lassi.
