Wikimedia Labs project request

Hello!

I was processing your request for a wikimedia labs project, and was wondering if you could provide more information about what you plan on using it for? If you're just planning on using it to try out popular tools, most of them are on Tool Labs and I see you already have access. Do you still need a new project? Thanks! yuvipanda (talk) 21:40, 1 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I want to edit existing toolscripts for specific purposes. I got started on one specific script, but there may be others. I was working in the space of a friend, which is why I wanted my own. Jane023 (talk) 22:08, 1 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Just saw you at WMCON and wanted to remind both of us to talk online or in person to work on getting your Tool ideas implemented. --BryanDavis (talk) 13:35, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I juts saw this now which means this project is not included in the notifications project. Also, it indicates how little reason there is for me to ever come here. The tools I am interested in are the same sorts of tools that Magnus has already created. The ones I can tailor to my needs such as listeria, I use massively. A tool I use for English Wikipedia and cannot edit now is e.g. "prepbio" which can't be used on other projects for obvious reasons, but which I would like to implement for use as a multi-project tool for creating painter and other bio stubs on Dutch Wikipedia. Similarly, I would like to see "prepart" which will create a PD-art-100-1923 file on Commons and a Wikidata item to go with it, complete with creating a creator template if the creator doesn't exist yet on Commons. this project is not included in the notifications project

Wikitech is not a "normal" Wikimedia wiki. It has a separate user database (not connected with meta/commons/wikipedia users) and as a result does not participate in the cross-wiki notifications system. We have a long term plan to change this, but implementing those changes requires among other things some software development work that has not yet been prioritized. --BryanDavis (talk) 15:04, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Just read this now :)) Jane023 (talk) 15:22, 13 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Eventualism for the win! In the last year I have been part of a team working on a new project called Toolhub that may be of help in some of the things that we have talked about in the past. Toolhub is not yet officially launched, but will be explained in a few unconfrence sessions at Wikimania 2021. In its initial form, Toolhub is functionally an improved version of Hay's directory. We hope to add more features over time that would make it easier for you to contact maintainers of existing tools which I think would help folks like you who would like to suggest improvements to tools to support other wikis. Cool! I will try to make sure I attend that discussion then. Jane023 (talk) 16:24, 13 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
