We're supposed to be using tools, right?

Couldn't most, if not all, of this be done with some automated process? RoySmith (talk) 20:45, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@RoySmith: I expect most of the work to be poking maintainers and getting them to update things, but all/any help with automating things is welcome! Legoktm (talk) 05:45, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Tools that are not working for a long time

I liked the idea of this project, but in my opinion the main problem are the tools that are not working for a long time or never worked years after being created. I created a script to check the number of tools with no commands in .bash_history for long time, checking the .bash_history modification time, in 3223 tools, 597 (19%) have no modification in more than 5 years, 1348 (42%) have no modification in more than 2 years, 338 (10%) have no .bash_history and 52 (2%) give no permission to see the tool directory. I think we could start with those that have no .bash_history and were created many years ago, I checked the replica.my.cnf modification time to see when the tool was created, 156 tools have no .bash_history and have more than 5 years. I created two lists of those non maintained tools that can help for the initial triage. Danilo (talk) 20:55, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

This is great. Legoktm (talk) 05:45, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
