@Milimetric: Thanks to all of you involved for making this release happen. A few thoughts (some of it for archive happiness as we discussed them in IRC):

  • The current release is for Wikipedia language editions only. I would love to see this for other Wikimedia projects as well. At the very least for Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata. If it's not too much work, for other projects, too. (Note that contests such as Wiki Loves * run are for the most part focused on Wikimedia Commons activities and it's great to have more information about the geographies of the editors who participate in these competitions, many of them newcomers to the Wikimedia ecosystem.)
  • Please make it clear in all documentation that the data-set is for Wikipedia only. It will save folks from figuring this out on their own. :)
  • Are "edits" namespace 0 edits only? Please specify this.

Misleading statistics

I already forgot how many times I had to explain to my opponents, who showed me this, that no, the Russian Wikipedia is not written only by foreign authors. It's just that the foundation made a strange decision not to publish aggregated data on Russia. I would like such distorted statistics to either not be published at all or be published with a huge disclaimer written in large red letters "WE DO NOT SHOW DATA FOR RUSSIA" Ghuron (talk) 13:12, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

The disclaimer on stats.wikimedia.org would be indeed welcome. Ата (talk) 10:33, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
