MS1 is a Sun Fire X4500. It formerly acted as our image server, handling requests for images at upload.wikimedia.org, as well as math images. We have a Sun "Premiere" level contract for this server, which entitles us to patches and all the goodies, but also to calls to Sun engineers without delay.

It is a slave for external storage.
