Welcome, Wikistats users. Please feel free to ask questions about Wikistats here, but be aware that we only casually monitor the wikis for this kind of interaction. If you need to reach us more urgently, please either create a task in Phabricator or find us on IRC, freenode, channel #wikimedia-analytics.

Inconsistencies in page view results for small wikipedias in different stat tables

I compare from time to time African language wikipedia pageviews. I wondered about large differences between May and November 2017 when looking at

  1. https://stats.wikimedia.org/EN_Africa/Sitemap.htm Wednesday May 31, 2017 ( TABLE 1)
  2. https://stats.wikimedia.org/EN/Sitemap.htm Thursday November 30, 2017 TABLE 2)

I compared to 3. https://stats.wikimedia.org/EN/TablesPageViewsMonthlyCombined.htm TABLE 3

RESULT: for views by hour (default in tables 1+2); in table 3 I divide the given monthly rounded figure by 30, then by 24

LanguageNov 2017 Table1Nov 2017 Table 3May 2017 Table 2May 2017 Table 3

This looks to me highly contradictory and at least for smaller wikipedias the figures are thus useless.Kipala (talk) 12:17, 1 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Total edits per user?

One metric that we at English Wiktionary use is the total edit count by user and, especially, total mainspace edits. It is very useful for quickly determining whether a given user is yet experienced enough to be an admin. Is this available by any means at present? Will we ever see these statistics in the new statistics system? Absence of availability will make us a little more reluctant to make quiet contributors into admins. @DCDuring: Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, this kind of information is available on XTools (which, unlike Wikistats, is primarily for analyzing individual users). For example, here's your English Wikitionary edit count page, which tells me that you have about 272,000 mainspace edits, which is probably enough for adminship 😂 —Neil P.
