Move this file to Commons?
Hi, is there a chance that we can host this file on Commons? Gnom (talk) 15:23, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- I second this. Ayounsi, please add a proper license so that FileImporter allows moving it to Commons and it can be re-added to m:Wikimedia servers (from where it has been removed yesterday). Thanks in advance! —Tacsipacsi (talk) 10:40, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Ayounsi: A gentle reminder. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:12, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, sure, no problem. I added a license, let me know if anything is missing. Ayounsi (talk) 06:58, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- What’s your SUL username? I’d like to include it in the
|author=
parameter on Commons, and m:User:Ayounsi reports that no such user exists. (I also have concerns about what assumptions FileImporter makes about user names being the same on the source wiki and Commons, as Wikitech is the only non-SUL wiki using FileExpoter…) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:19, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

- We want this to be available on wikitech-static, is the sync script compatible with commons hosted images? Majavah (talk!) 07:19, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- According to the documentation, “It also attempts to sync image files but there is no guarantee that we're getting full-res versions of those images that are pulled in from commons.” So in theory yes, but we can’t be 100% sure until we try it. And even if it doesn’t work, copying to Commons enables using it on Meta at the cost of having to maintain the same content twice. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:19, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
