Interesting page. I thought you'd actually given up on this quest after discovering that common languages do have frameworks and other utilities for dealing with JSON (which is hardly new these days!). Wikimedia's experience with the MediaWiki API seems to indicate that people prefer JSON, so I think that it makes sense to support that primarily and by default. Other contributors are, of course, welcome to take this serialized data and change the output format to something else, but given its decreasing popularity (and my general distaste), supporting XML is a very low priority for me and others, I imagine. --MZMcBride (talk) 17:26, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
