Did you mean to attach your account to SUL before renaming?

Your 'Yxngtrxll' Developer account has been associated with the 'Yxngtrtxll' SUL account using the idm.wikimedia.org account management tool. While attempting to rename the legacy 'Yxngtrxll' Wikitech account I found that it has already been attached to a SUL account with the same name. It is not clear if this SUL attachment was a delibrate choice you made or if it was a side effect of a confusing migration from Developer accounts to SUL accounts here on Wikitech.

If you feel this was an error, and that you would like to have the 'Yxngtrxll' Wikitech account renamed to match the previously claimed 'Yxngtrtxll' SUL account, please leave a comment on phab:T386026 stating "Please detach 'Yxngtrxll' from SUL, rename it to 'Yxngtrtxll', and reattach to SUL."

Hi there,

This was all completely my fault. When I first made my Wikipedia account I accidentally made a typo and ended up with the username Yxngtrtxll instead of what I wanted, which was Yxngtrxll. All of my other Wiki accounts (Wikidata, Wikimedia etc.) have the username Yxngtrtxll. Wikitech is the only place where I have the username Yxngtrxll.

Is it at all possible to somehow universally link all myWiki accounts and re-name them to Yxngtrxll. If by doing so, means that my Wikipedia and Wikidata accounts get reset then I won't worry about it, as those two are my most important Wiki's.

Yes, this can be accomplished in two steps:

• First we would take a step that will feel backwards--rename this Wikitech account Yxngtrtxll to match your misspelled SUL account and attach it to that SUL account.
• Once that is done you can use meta:Special:GlobalRenameRequest to request a global rename of your Yxngtrtxll SUL account to the preferred Yxngtrxll spelling. That will require usurping the meta:Special:CentralAuth/Yxngtrxll account so that the Special:CentralAuth/Yxngtrtxll account can take over the name. See meta:Global rename policy for more details.

@Yxngtrtxll I have taken the step of renaming and SUL attaching your account here on Wikitech. You can now start the global rename process where you should request that the Yxngtrxll SUL username be usurped (renamed out of the way) so that your Yxngtrtxll account can be renamed to that preferred spelling. -- BryanDavis (talk) 16:29, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Hey mate, sorry for the hassle and my lack of knowledge on the whole process but I need a bit more help with it all. I've just tried to submit a request at meta:Special:GlobalRenameRequest but it wouldn't allow it because the username Yxngtrxll is already taken. I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks mate! The wording at meta:Global rename policy#Usurpation could be better, but if you read that section and the prior meta:Global rename policy#Requesting_a_global_rename closely you can come to the conclusion that the meta:Steward requests/Username changes is the place to go to request a global rename that also involves a usurpation request. Your usurpation should be easy for a Steward to agree to once you demonstrate that you have control of both accounts. I would suggest that you start by posting something like the following at meta:Steward requests/Username changes#Requests_involving_merges,_usurps_or_other_complications using your Yxngtrtxll account:

After you have made that edit, follow up by adding adding a signed reply using your Yxngtrxll account that states that the account is willing to be usurped to allow the rename. -- BryanDavis (talk) 17:56, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
