Redirects to GlobalUserPages
Hiyo! I'm trying to fix the problem of: Three working redirects to GlobalUserPages, keep being tagged for deletion by MABot. I'm not sure if it needs to be patched in the bot-code or the MediaWiki-code?
In a nutshell, see the history of this redirect (especially krinkle's edit-comment on 4 May: "redirect to known/blue pages (but locally non-existant) will work again as of gerrit:1141092"). The other two redirects [with identical problems] are currently in Category:Page deletion queue.
I've tried every manual-workaround I can think of. Can you easily determine if it's something that needs to be fixed in the bot-code or in MediaWiki-code (in which case I'll file a phab task!) or should I ask Derick?
Thanks! P.S. Thanks for the services of MABot, otherwise! Quiddity (talk) 21:55, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Quiddity. This is sadly a known issue and I think I have reported it to Phabricator already some time ago (but I can't remember for sure). I think this is because global user pages don't really exist locally so, when the bot follows the redirect to see if the page exist, since it has no local content, it considers it broken (this is my guess only, and I'm not sure whether it's MW or PWB the one that needs to be fixed). I've added the {{bots|deny=MABot}} tag to those pages, that should keep MABot off them. If there are any other issues, please let me know. Best regards, — MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:14, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
