Bot description is empty
Please link this page in the Telegram bot description. I've found this page only thanks to DuckDuckGo. --Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 11:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Done. I have set the bot's description to "Matterbridge bot used by Wikimedia communities. See https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tool:Bridgebot for more information." and also changed the easier to display 'about' text to "https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tool:Bridgebot". Thanks for the suggestion! --BryanDavis (talk) 18:04, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Any logs?
I'm currently hunting around for some data on how active various chat channels are, and the main source I currently have are the old (and current) wm-bot logs. Does wb-bb have any logs at all for all of its mirroring efforts @BryanDavis? ·addshore· talk to me! 20:36, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Addshore, bridgebot does not do any content logging or message volume tracking. It does have whatever operational log retention is provided by News/2025 New Toolforge log storage, but I think that is relatively short lived? When I do
toolforge jobs logs bridgebotthe oldest message I see is from about an hour ago. - Stashbot however has been logging IRC in broadly the same way as wm-bot since mid-2015. There is no existing frontend per "
(an as yet unwritten IRC history search system)
"[0], but there are monthlyirc-YYYY.MMindexes in the Help:Toolforge/Elasticsearch cluster. -- BryanDavis (talk) 20:54, 25 March 2026 (UTC)- Thank you very much for the stashbot info! ·addshore· talk to me! 14:38, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
XMPP bridge
Hi @BryanDavis @Lucas Werkmeister and other Bridgebot maintainers!
@the.j3j5, @Francisco1892 and I are members of Wikimedia technical community in Uruguay. We have an XMPP room were we chat with one another, but some of us are not on XMPP but on Telegram instead.
We used to have a Telegram-XMPP Matterbridge service running locally and we wanted to move this to Toolforge. We managed to do so based on your Bridgebot tool using a separate Bridgebot-wdu tool account, linked to an XMPP account on a local XMPP server.
Do you think it would make sense to have XMPP support using your tool instead? Do we have a Wikimedia-maintained XMPP instance to use for this? Do you think it may make sense creating one otherwise?
Thanks! Diegodlh (talk) 20:54, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
