Mapframe

If mapframe is enabled in a project, do you want each page that has created a map with a query here or is that not what you are looking for? Ainali (talk) 06:33, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

@Ainali: No, but I'd like an entry saying something like "mapframe allows queries in pages, which run when /.../ and are cached for /.../, and see /.../ for the list of projects that enable mapframe". Smalyshev (talk) 04:16, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
@Smalyshev: Sounds reasonable. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the technology to fill in the blanks. Ainali (talk) 11:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Mobile apps

@Smalyshev: What about mobile apps? Wikimedia Commons for Android has a Nearby feature which displays Wikidata entities whose locations are close to the user's current location. It may not be the most important feature of the app, but when it's unavailable it would be a major degradation. The source code is here https://github.com/commons-app/apps-android-commons/ . We don't have a distinguishing mark in the query we send yet. whym (talk) 03:26, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

@whym: yes, this would be nice to know too. It'd be nice if there could be some kind of user agent or another way to know the source of the query. Not a huge deal but would definitely be helpful if anything goes wrong. Smalyshev (talk) 04:18, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, done. I believe it's distinguishable by user agent. whym (talk) 08:07, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Broken link

@Smalyshev: http://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-GoatLocator is 404. Would you have a locator app to locate goat location apps? Nicolas Raoul (talk) 08:26, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Oh, I had not realized it was just an example. I think it can be removed, as there are several real-world examples now? Cheers! Nicolas Raoul (talk) 08:28, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
