tilerator is a Maps service for generating map tiles from OSM data in postgres and then storing them in cassandra. The service being down could be an indication of issues with either postgres or with cassandra. Individual instances of tilerator being down will affect maps throughput but will not cause a service outage on their own.
Check /srv/log/tilerator/main.log and /srv/log/tilerator/syslog.log for information about service performance and to help debug what is going on with the service.
